Hard Candy Glamoflauge - Heavy Duty Concealer Medium Review & Swatch

Posted by Sarah Ali / Glossicious at Saturday, November 26, 2011 19 comments

Hard candy Glamoflauge ($6) is A heavy duty, highly pigmented, multi-use concealer that delivers ultimate coverage. The formula blends seamlessly into skin with plenty of play time creating a flawless and natural look perfect for any occasion. You can hide everything from dark circles and blemishes to tattoos!

Comes in three shades
  • Light
  • Medium
  • Tan

I finally got my hands on Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer. . I got it in shade medium. I wish it was tad more on yellow side rather than beige. I had been dying to try this since last year after watching/reading rave reviews

I love the squeezable tube it comes in, which makes the application easy and sanity .You get a decent size tube and since you only need a teeny tiny amount of product this tube is going to last ages. The formula is thick and on the dry side so i highly recommend moisturized skin before you apply this.
l I take out a teeny tiny amount on the back of my hand and use either synthetic flat brush or fingers to cover the blemishes/imperfection. Before i got that i was using my HG concealer by mac ( mac prolong concealer & studio finish concealer). I usually use concealer to hide some blemish ,spots or redness around my nose or around lips. I hardly use these under my eyes.So i bought Hard Candy Glamoflauge for the same purposes but i was disappointed at the shade. I wish it had more yellow undertone .It will work so much better if that so. I personally feel that this concealer is wee bit too thick for under eye concealing and end result could be cakey also i dont know whats in the ingredient but it made me oily few times. I use sleek makeup Luminaire Highlighting Concealer and i am pretty satisfied with it

Overall a wonderful concealer Only wish they had more shades available. Its a wonderful concealer which gives high coverage , pigmented and stays put for a long long time . Its affordable. But if your skin is mature and on the dry side , i would suggest testing it first.

Price : approx $6
Availability: Walmart (US)

Just for fun i posted my concealer collection photo on my facebook page, thought of sharing it here

Gossip Girl Fashion inspired Wishlist

Posted by Sarah Ali / Glossicious at Friday, November 25, 2011 5 comments
I am clearly gossip girl and  Blair waldorf's fan :) I like love her sense of fashion. So when i googled and found farfetch.com i was kinda excited because i could find what i was looking for , or same (more or less). If you are into designer stuff like designer dresses , hand bags, shoes and etc i will recommend you to check out this website. They ship using DHL and UPS to over 200 countries globally.

farfetch.com unites the world's best designer boutiques in one easy to shop website.Shop designer dresses, shoes and accessories for men & women.

First thing which i absolutely loved is CAMILLA SKOVGAARD Sock Saw Sole Bootie

Ever since i saw Moschino Ruffle Pearl Tweed Jacketon Blair Waldorf in gossip girl, I have been lemming over one and this one came pretty close .Its from ZHOR & NÉMA Mohair blend cardigan

Who didnt Love Dolce & Gabbana Leopard Print Chemise Dress $1,475 on Blair Waldorf , even i was loving it and my cousin discussed to have it made . Luckily Dolce & Gabbana Leopard Print Chemise Dress is available at http://www.farfetch.com for $925 , with her gossip girl obsession i am sure she will be getting one soon.

Serena van der Woodsen's  was spotted wearing Marc Jacobs Sequin Sweater and i cant keep my eyes off , how chic it is.

I love long coats and blue is such a stylish yet beautiful color.Blair woldorf wore Tibi Felted Wool Sophia Coat in gossip girl. I couldnt find same coat but the one i found is pretty enough :)

Yellow hand bag ? was never on wishlist until i saw Fendi Peek-a-Boo Tote : $2,690.00 carried by blair woldorf . Farfetch has the the Fendi  peek a boo handbags but unfortunatly not in yellow.

Blair waldorf wore this stunning Oscar de la Renta Beaded Dress   which is stunning in every way

Blair wore Balenciaga Cherry Blossom Silk Dress which i thought was uber cute and so girlish. Not excatly same but quite similar one i liked  is by Red Valentino

Balmain Gold Breasted Double Brocade Jacket $3,590  took my breath away so did the price made me skip a heartbeat . DRIES VAN NOTEN gold pattern jacket is quite similar and equally breath taking.

Sleek Makeup Berry Collection for Holiday 2011 - Review , Photos & Swtach

Posted by Sarah Ali / Glossicious at Wednesday, November 23, 2011 13 comments

The onset of the festive season mean two things
1- searching for that perfect party look
2-worrying about what to buy your fellpow glam dolls for Christmas?
And because stylists are always the hardest to please, Sleek Makeup has created the ideal gift , The Limited edition 3-piece Berry Collection

The limited edition Sleek Makeup Berry Collection ($16/£9.99)  includes
  • Sleek Makeup True Colour Lipstick in Cranberry (pink toned, rich berry)
  • Sleek Makeup Kohl Pencil in Mossberry (smoky purple)
  • Sleek Makeup Blush in Fenberry (a rich, rosy shade of berry)

You get the following products beautifully packaged in a slick black box ready for gifting someone or yourself for this festive season

All three products in the Berry collection are stunning true matte. The true colour lipstick in Cranberry is a pink toned, deep berry shade , perfect for a striking evening pout. Complements stand out lips with a rick purple toned sweep of Kohl pencil on moss-berry.,this chubby ,creamy kohl works best when smudged to create a smokey sexy eyes. Lastly add a flush of natural winter rosiness to the apples of your cheeks with blush in Fenberry .

My favorite in the Sleek makeup Berry collection is the beautiful blush in Fenberry. Winter is almost here and it means beautiful rosey cheeks. It might look bit scary in the pan and  may fair skinned girls will fear that it might look dirty on the skin but sleek makeup took care of it . The pigmentation is great but keeping in mind the strong shade, sleek makeup kept the pigmentation on the medium level where you get beautiful flushes cheek without overdoing it. The lipstick in Cranberry , is pigmented plum with hint of red undertone. Its perfect for this festive season , I normally dont wear such bold sshades but since i have been attending so many weddings. The formula of lipstick is easy to wear , its creamy and pigment rich with intense colour pay-off. Its has no shine, all matte finish. if you feel that matte formula is thicker and can get dry on lips . Apply this lipstick with a lipstick brush to get smooth, even coverage. A matte-finish lipstick is perfect for when you don't want your lips to appear glossed . Last product in this collection is Kohl pencil in Kohl pencil on moss-berry. When i first opened the box , i thought it was a chubby lip pencil. I wish it was a little more creamier . Maybe its winter and i felt that i had to try a bit to get the color and was bit hard to blend. I hope sleek makeup launches more chubby kohl pencils in future with better formula.

Over all , i think Sleek makeup Berry collection is worth trying and for the price of ($16/£9.99)  you cant go wrong. The boxed gift idea is wonderful and i am hoping that sleek makeup comes up with more of these in future.

So whether you're treating yourself or your friends, sleek makeup's berry collection provides the perfect on trend colour injection to your makeup bag this winter. I will post a fotd using some of the products from this collection so check back tommorow :)

The collection launches on November 23, 2011 and will be available for a limited time

Price : ($16/£9.99)

Maybelline Color Sensational Pop Sticks Rasberry Ice - Review, Swatches, Photos

Posted by Sarah Ali / Glossicious at Sunday, November 13, 2011 7 comments

Not long ago, I started seeing posts about Maybelline Color Sensational Pop Sticks. As usual , i was sucked into the cuteness . But to my horror they were a limited edition line called Shine Sensational Pop Sticks. Usually in Pakistan we don't get LE products if we do then the shade selection is not good enough. I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the shades called Maybelline Color Sensational Pop Sticks rasberry ice.

There were four shades
  • Pink Lollipop clear neon pink,
  • Raspberry Ice clear medium pink,
  • Citrus Slice clear neon orange,
  • Fruit Punch clear red

The packaging is adorable and florescent . It is very similar to the Color Sensational lipstick packaging but with a neon almost florescent touch to the cap. I love the hot pink going on .

pretty no ? When i showed this to my brother , and asked him what it is ? he said "jelly lipstick" . I cant say he was wrong , since they look like beautiful jellies.  To be honest when i bought this , i was aware that it wont have much of color payoff and it is what i expected. It has a a balmy texture with a very little tint , the tint may give better payoff of the those who have paler lips but on pigmented lips, it will give you a very minimal color with balmy finish and little shine. It does smell little of a raspberry, which is pleasant scent to me.

Over all a fun product to try , not practical but its a nice /new addition to my lipstick collection

Black Pencil Eye Liner Comparison & Swatches

Posted by Sarah Ali / Glossicious at Saturday, November 05, 2011 7 comments

This post is all about some of my mostly used black pencil eyeliners. I have always been into black eyeliners. I love my black eyeliners. I use all sort of liners, gel liners, liquid liner, cake ones, pencils eyeliner. I love few more than other for different reasons like color intensity , staying power , ease of re purchasing and price also. Last year i was all about gel liners but i am using eye pencils more often and i thought why not do a little comparison .

  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero : Creamy, forever-lasting, award-winning and waterproof, 24/7 pencils delight you with lush tropical hues, deep metallics, and unusually vibrant neutrals. 24/7 Eye Pencils are ideal for lining inner lids because the waterproof formula stays put. Just apply, try not to blink for a sec, and you've got immovable liner. Price $18.00
  • Milani Cosmetics - LIQUIF EYE Metallic Eyeliner Pencil in Black :Extremely smooth eye pencil with the application and feel of a liquid liner that delivers true color payoff, in a metallic finish with a long-lasting wear. Price: $7.99
  • L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil in Carbon Black : Now, get the intense look and luxurious feel of a liquid liner with the easy application and precision of a pencil with L'Oreal's Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner. It glides on smoothly and evenly for beautiful definition in a single stroke. The smudge-resistant formula provides 16 hours of non-stop wear. Price: $8.49
  • Palladio's Herbal Retractable Waterproof Eye Liner Pencil in smokey : Define your eyes perfectly with this Retractable Waterproof Eye Liner by Palladio. No sharpening needed! Price:$4.49

L-R Palladio waterproof herbal liner in smokey , Sweet touch eye pencil in black, Urban decay 24/7 in zero , Milani liquify  eyepencil in black &L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil in Carbon Black

I think the photo says it all. The blackest black are the last two from the right which are Milani liquify eye pencil in black &L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil in Carbon Black. They are winners in my opinion , since they glide on so easily, soft , stay super long and they are the darkest among rest of the liners. I cant exactly say the palladio is least pigmented since it is not black (smokey) , but i am interested in trying the black from this range. If you are in Pakistan and cant get hold of any of the above pencils, sweet touch sparking eyepencil in black is your best option. Its really black, smooth and lasts pretty well. Lastly , i dont know if its me or what , but i am kind of bummed with 24/7 pencil in zero. Its certainly not blackest black. I had high hopes for 24/7 zero but you disappointed me.

Conclusion:

  • Blackest Black - Milani liquify eye pencil in black &L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil in Carbon Black
  • Availability (local) - Sweetouch sparking eyepencil & Palladio herbal waterproof pencil
  • Best for Price : Milani liquify eye pencil in black
  • Creamines & ease of application : Its a tie between Milani liquify eye pencil in black &L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil in Carbon Black & Urban Deacy 24/7 glide on pencil
  • Least Black- Urban Deacy 24/7 glide on pencil
  • Staying power - Milani liquify eye pencil in black &L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil in Carbon Black
  • Best for waterline : Palladio herbal waterproof pencil
Here you go , i wanted to do this post months ago but life has been so busy and not in a good way. I have plan of doing some foundation , powders , and other comparision posts and hopefully normal blogging post will resume aftr November 20th.

What's your favorite black eyeliner?

Glossicious's Favorites - Wedding Season

Posted by Sarah Ali / Glossicious at Thursday, November 03, 2011 10 comments
Its almost winters and weddings are happening everywhere. Its officially the wedding season. I have attended so far 3-4 weddings and 2 more to go. I have been using some of my new makeup items, which i bought recently. So this post is dedicated to the stuff i have been loving and using during The Wedding Season.

Face :

For Face i have been using the pretty much the above photgrpahed products and i have never loved how my face looks. Flawless . I start with my favourite primer of all time
  • L'Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base
For foundations there is nothing better than these two
  • Studio Fix Fluid Foundation
  • Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet PLUS Matifying Foundation
Both give medium to full coverage and both last pretty long . I use good old technique to apply them "hands'. To cover any spots or imperfection + undereyes i use
  • MAC Studio Finish Concealer
Its opaque and lightweight so it doesnt look cakey. I tap my fingers in few times and apply where ever needed. It blends so easily.Last step is to set face with my
  • Korres wildrose powder
Its a perfect light weight powder .

Cheeks

For cheeks i have been into glowy kinda phase. I start with contouring and i use
It made my life so much easier. It comes with a brown powder for  contour (matte)  and then the highlight (fine shimmer).I recently started using using the highlight part and it looks fabulous paired with the blush combo i am gonna mention now.For blushes my favourite combo is
  • Nars deep throat &
  • MAC Skinfinish-Stereo Rose
I have had Nars deep thrpat for quite some time and i like it . But since i got MAC Skinfinish-Stereo Rose , what i do is to apply deep throat on apples of my cheek and then on top of it towards cheekbone i apply MAC Skinfinish-Stereo Rose and it gives me such a beautiful sheen & glow.
To satisfy my pink blush addiction . I use
Illasmaqua Shimemr blush in morale is part of the llamasqua Theatre of the Nameless Collection. Its a shimmer blush. Rosed flush shimmery blush with a sheen to it . It has tiny gold shimmer in it.

Eyes

I start with my eyebrows, For perfectly groomed eyebrows I use my Anastasia eyebrow stencil (not pictured) and
  • Sleekmakeup eyebrow kit
As an eye liner i have been using two products together
  • L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner in carbon black
  • Maybelline Line Stiletto liquid eyeliner
The L'oreal pencil goes on so smoothly and its BLACKEST BLACK i have in my collection. I put on a my liquid eyeliner and then go over it with a pencil liner. I have started applying liner this way recently and i love how my liner stays put for hours. As an eyeshadow base i love
  • Artdeco The Eyeshadow Base
and for lashes i use my beloved
  • Shu uemura eyelash curler
and finally i use my HG mascara and sometimes i combo both for beautiful curled lashes
  • Bourjois Volume Clubbing Ultra Black (Review here)
  • Cover girl lashblast volume mascara

For eyeshadows i use pretty much my
  • Urban decay 15th anniversary palette and
  • wet n wild comfort zone.
Both are glittery, shimmery perfect for weddings. They last long and dont crease,

Nails

I have been rocking metallics.
  • OPI DS Radiance (Review here)
OPI Nail Lacquer Glitzerland (Review here)
  • Ciate Wait Until Dark
  • Color studios delicious
  • Golden rose quick dry

Lips

I was on a lipstick kick last month. I bought so many that i still need to use some but this wedding season my favourite lip products so far are starting from lip blams. OMG i love this stuff
  • Carmex lip balm
Now for lipsticks i have been switching between these three
Okay this next lipstick is new to my collection and seriously it is the perfect pink lipstick i have had in long time. It's a pink with blue undertones.
  • Wet 'n' Wild Mega Matte 907C Mauve Outta Here
For smokey eyes , i pair them with the Revlon's popular
  • Revlon colorburst lipstick in soft nude
Two glosses were in my favourites
  • NARS Lipgloss in Sweet Revenge
  • Chanel Levres Scintillantes Glossimer in Mica

Here you go, i know list of my favorites is long but considering its wedding season , i think i am still missing few things. I have another wedding to attend tomorrow out of station.

Do you have any favorites ? If you did a post about your favorites comment below i will love to read your picks.
